Tarihçe

Köyün adı, 1854 yılına tarihlenen Alman kaynağı ve 1876 yılı Trabzon Vilayeti Salnamesi'nde Hemşincede "manastır" anlamına gelen Venek, 1913 yılında yayınlanan Alman kaynağında ise Benek olarak geçmektedir.[4] Köyde 1870 yılında inşa edilmiş bir cami bulunmaktadır.[5]

Köy; Rize il merkezine 34 km, Pazar ilçe merkezine 17 km uzaklıktadır.[6]
