1944'te Samuel Barber.

Vanessa, Samuel Barber'ın üç (aslen dört) perdeden oluşan, Gian Carlo Menotti'nin librettosunun yer aldığı operası.[1][2][3] 1956-1957'de bestelenmiş ve ilk olarak Cecil Beaton tarafından tasarlanan ve Menotti tarafından yönetilen bir prodüksiyonda Dimitri Mitropoulos şefliğinde 15 Ocak 1958'de New York Metropolitan Operası'nda sahnelendi. Barber, 1964'te operayı revize ederek dört perdeyi bugün en yaygın olarak gerçekleştirilen üç perdeli versiyona indirdi.
