Trafik ışığı

Trafik ışığı ya da trafik lambası, yol bağlantılarında, kavşaklarda, yaya geçitlerinde ve trafiğin kontrol edilmesi gereken diğer yerlerde bulunan trafik düzenleme aracı. İlk trafik ışığı 1868'de Londra'ya konmuştur. Trafik ışıkları, trafikte geçiş üstünlüğünün yerine, sürücü ve yayalara evrensel bir renk kodu ile renk sinyalleri göstererek trafiği düzenler.

Standart bir trafik ışığında;

  • Yeşil ışık: ilgili doğrultuda trafiğin akabileceğini,
  • Sarı ışık: ışığın yeşilden kırmızıya ya da kırmızıdan yeşile değişmek üzere olduğunu,
  • Kırmızı ışık: trafiğin durması gerektiğini gösterir.

Tek başına yanan sarı ışık ışığın yeşilden kırmızıya değişmek üzere olduğunu bildirirken, kırmızıyla birlikte yanan sarı ışık yeşil ışığın yanmak üzere olduğunu bildirir.

Yeşil-kırmızı renk körü insanlara kolaylık olması için genellikle kırmızı ışıklar biraz turuncu ve yeşil ışıklar da bir miktar mavi tonu içerir. "Yeşil" ışıklar çoğunlukla sarı ışığın üzerine mavi lens koyularak elde edilir.

Türkiye'de İlk trafik ışığı 1929'da İstanbul'a konmuştur.[1]
