John Farrar (1 Temmuz 1779 - 8 Mayıs 1853), Amerikalı matematikçi ve felsefeci. Kasırga kavramını ilk kez 1815'teki Büyük Eylül Fırtınası'ndan sonra "atmosferdeki büyük bir kütlenin ilerlemesi değil, hareketli bir girdap" olarak ortaya atmıştır.[1][2][3] 1807-1836 yılları arasında Harvard Üniversitesi'nde Matematik ve Doğa Felsefesi Profesörü olarak görev yapmış, bu süre zarfında modern matematiği müfredata eklemiştir. Ayrıca bilimsel dergilere düzenli olarak katkıda bulunmuştur.
