Kasaysayan

Ang modernong Pompei ay itinatag noong 1891 pagkatapos ng pagtatayo ng Dambana ng Birhen ng Rosaryo ng Pompei ng abogadong si Bartolo Longo.

Heograpiya

Ang bayan ng Pompei ay matatagpuan sa silangang hangganan ng lalawigan nito, at ang lugar ng lungsod ay kadikit sa Scafati, sa Lalawigan ng Salerno. Ito ay may hangganan din sa Torre Annunziata, Castellammare di Stabia, Boscoreale, Santa Maria la Carità, at Sant'Antonio Abate.
