Matatagpuan ito sa isang napakaliit na layo mula sa Cabo Posillipo, sa hilaga lamang ng Napoles; ito ay konektado ngayon sa lupain sa pamamagitan ng isang batong tulay. Ang maliit na pulo ay halos pabilog, na may isang binahang bunganga ng bulkan na bumubuo sa look ng Porto Paone sa timog-kanlurang baybayin. Ito ay may lawak na halos 0.5 kilometro (0.3 mi) at isang pinakamataas na altitud na 105 metro (344 tal).
Ang pangalan ng pulo ay mula sa salitang Griyego para sa "maliit na isla", νησίς, kung saan ang akusatibo ay nesida.[1]
