Dinisenyo ito para sa mga paglilista ng kodigong pinagbatayan o source code, mga emulator sa terminal, at mga katulad na gamit. Naimpluwensiyahan ito sa propretaryong monospaced na tipo ng titik na Consolas, na dinisenyo ni Lucas de Groot, ang proporsyunal na Avenir at ang klasikong monospaced ng IBM na Letter Gothic.
