Elasmosaurus

Ang Elasmosaurus ay isang genus ng plesiosaur na nabuhay sa North America noong yugto ng Campanian ng Late Cretaceous period, mga 80.5 milyong taon na ang nakalilipas. Ang unang ispesimen ay natuklasan noong 1867 malapit sa Fort Wallace, Kansas, at ipinadala sa American paleontologist na si Edward Drinker Cope, na pinangalanan itong E. platyurus noong 1868. Ang generic na pangalan ay nangangahulugang "thin-plate reptile", at ang partikular na pangalan ibig sabihin ay "flat-tailed".
