อัลวินกับสหายชิพมังค์ เป็นนักร้องกลุ่ม ในช่วงยุค 50's โดยมีสมาชิก 3 ตัว เป็นชิปมังก์ (โดยใช้เครื่องอัดแผ่นเสียง แล้วเร่งเสียงให้เป็นเสียงชิปมังก์) และเคยทำเป็นการ์ตูนที่ฉายในประเทศไทย ฉายทางช่อง 3 ช่วงปี 2536 - 37
ประวัติ
รอส แบ็กดาสาเรียน จูเนียร์เป็นผู้กำเนิดอัลวินกับสหายชิพมังค์
ในปี 1958 รอส เหลือเงินในธนาคารเพียง 200 ดอลลาร์ แล้วเขาเอาเงินนั้นไปซื้อเครื่องอัดเสียง และสิ่งที่เครื่องอัดเสียงในยุคนั้นทำไม่ได้ คือสามารถเร่งความเร็ว แล้วเขาอัดเสียงในเครื่อง เลยเป็นต้นกำเนิดเสียงของชิปมังค์ ในปีเดียวกันเขาคิดว่าจะใช้สัตว์ตัวอะไรร้องเพลง ขณะที่คิดอยู่นั้นได้เห็นชิปมังค์อยู่กลางถนน เขาคิดที่จะขับรถผ่านไป ด้วยความกล้าเขาเลยคิดที่จะใช้ชิปมังค์เป็นนักร้อง
ที่มาของชื่อตัวละคร
ที่มาก็คือค่ายเพลงที่เซ็นสัญญา คือลิเบอร์ตี้ เร็คคอร์ด โดยการใช้ชื่อของบุคลากรของค่ายเพลงที่เซ็นสัญญา
