Jean Monnet (9 nëntor, Konjak - 16 mars, Houjarray), është një nëpunës civil ndërkombëtar francez, bankier, promovues i Atlanticizmit dhe i tregtisë së lirë . Ai konsiderohet si një nga "baballarët e Evropës".

Që nga krijimin e saj në vitin 1919, ai ka qenë njëri nga promotorët kryesorë të Lidhjes së Kombeve, i të cilës është zëvendës Sekretar i Përgjithshëm, dhe në cilësi të cilës organizon Konferencën Financiare të Brukselit në shtator 1920. Në shërbim të Francës dhe, më pas, të Aleatëve gjatë Luftës së Dytë Botërore, Monnet propozoi në vitin 1940 projektin e Unionit Franko-Britan. Në kuadër të Planit Marshall, ai bëhët njëri nga arkitektët e planifikimit francez sidhe kryekomisioner i Planifikimit nga 1946 deri në 1952. Monnet kontribuoi në deklaratën e Schuman-it të vitit 1950, në afrimin franko-gjerman, dhe në krijimin e Komunitetit Evropian të Qymyrit dhe Çelikut, ku Monnet vepron si president i parë i Autoritetit të Lartë. Monnet promovoi bashkëpunimin industrial ndërkombëtar dhe është njëri nga themeluesit kryesorë të Komunitetit Ekonomik Evropian (i cili themelohet me Traktatin i Romës në vitin 1957) dhe i Tregut të Përbashkët Evropian (1968). Të gjithë këta organe janë paraardhës të Bashkimit Evropian. Monnet shpallet qytetar nderi i Evropës në vitin 1976 dhe varroset në Panteonin Francez në vitin 1988.
