Kojsani so najstarejši pripadniki "stepske lovske kulture". Njihovi potomci danes živijo samo še v južni in jugozahodni Afriki v polpuščaviKalahari.
Beseda Kojsani je izpeljana iz imena Kojkoji in njihove označitve za Grmičarje. Grmičarji in Kojkonji ali Kokoji so znani kot ljudstvo Kojsani.
