Symenos, syn Damostrata, sochár pochádzajúci zrejme z ostrova Rodos (alebo z Atiky[3]), pôsobil približne v polovici 4. stor. pred Kr.[4][2] Jeho autorský podpis sa zachoval na obdĺžnikovom podstavci z modrého vápenca (so stopami nôh pravdepodobne bronzovej sochy) objavenom na akropole mesta Lindos, ktorý bol kedysi základňou votívnej sochy venovanej Aténe Lindskej (podstavec sa nachádza v Národnom múzeu v Kodani[5]).[6]

Εὐφράνωρ Ἀρχηίου, Δαμάγητος Εὐφράνορος καὶ παῖδες, Ἀθαναίαι Λινδίαι δεκάτας καὶ ἀπαρχάς. Σύμενος Δαμοστράτου ἐπόει. Eufranor syn Archéia, Damagétos syn Eufranora a jeho chlapci, venovali Aténe Lindskej obeť („desiatok“ (dekatai) a „prvotné plody“ (aparchai) rôznych hodnôt alebo množstva prispeli rôzni členovia rodiny)... Symenos syn Damostrata zhotovil[7][8]

Plínius jeho meno uvádza medzi sochármi, ktorí boli autormi bronzových sôch atlétov, bojovníkov, lovcov a obetníkov.[9]

Na južnom svahu aténskej Akropole sa našiel podstavec zo sochy so značne poškodeným nápisom (datovaným do polovice 4. stor. pred Kr.), ktorý je tiež signovaný menom Symenos.[3]

[Ἱππ]ολοχίδης Θρασ[υμήδους] [Λου]σιεὺς ἀνέθηκε[ν — — —]. Σύ[μ]εν[ος ἐπόησε]. Hippolochides syn Thrasyméda z Lousie venoval .. Symenos zhotovil[10]

Hippolochides syn Thrasyméda z Lousie bol evidentne bohatý muž, pretože postavil na Akropole alebo v jej blízkosti dve bronzové sochy od Démétria a jednu od Symena.[11]

Zdá sa, že tu ide o identického sochára. Väčšina znalcov (medzi nimi Christian Blinkenberg, Charles Picard alebo Georg Lippold) sa k tomu prikláňa.[3][12][13]
