Piero Heliczer, rodným menom Piero Giorgio Heliczer (* 20. jún 1937 Rím, Taliansko − † 22. júl 1993 Préaux-du-Perche, Francúzsko) bol taliansky filmový režisér, herec a básnik.

Život

Narodil sa do židovskej rodiny v Ríme 20. júna 1937 (otec sa volal Jacob, matka Sabina). Roku 1942 hral ako detský herec vo filme Bengasi režiséra Augusta Geninu.[1] Onedlho bol počas vojny zabitý jeho otec a on so svojou matkou a mladším bratom odišiel v roku 1947 do Spojených štátov amerických, kde začal študovať na strednej škole vo Forest Hills v newyorskom Queense. Počas štúdií sa zoznámil s básnikom a hudobníkom Angusom MacLisom. Po úspešnom dokončení strednej školy začal v roku 1955 študovať na Harvardovej univerzite, ale štúdií zanechal a roku 1958 spoločne so svojou priateľkou a MacLisom odcestoval do Paríža, kde založil nakladateľstvo Dead Language Press. Zanedlho sa usadil v Londýne a roku 1961 natočil svoj prvý film nazvaný The Autumn Feast (spolupracoval na ňom s Jeffreyom Keenom). Tu sa tiež oženil so svojou prvou manželkou, Catherine Maxence Cowper.

Potom, čo sa v roku 1962 vrátil do New Yorku, sa zoznámil s režisérom a básnikom Jackom Smithom a predstavil sa v jeho filme Flaming Creatures (1963). Ďalej tu usporadúval rôzne experimentálne predstavenia, ku ktorým hrala živá hudba v podaní skupiny The Velvet Underground (so skupinou občasne vystupoval aj on ako saxofonista). Rôzni jej členovia, napríklad John Cale a Lou Reed, hrali tiež v niektorých nových Heliczerových filmoch (napríklad Satisfaction a Dirt). Počas šesťdesiatych rokov natočil v New Yorku niekoľko ďalších experimentálnych filmov, neskôr sa vrátil do Európy. Počas osemdesiatych rokov žil ako bezdomovec v New Yorku. Zomrel v roku 1993 pri dopravnej nehode.[2]
