PhDr. Július Alapy (maď. Alapy Gyula; * 20. október 1872, Komárno – † 20. január 1936, Komárno)[1] bol uhorský archivár, historik a verejný činiteľ v období medzivojnového Česko-Slovenska.

Životopis

Strednú školu absolvoval v Komárne a v Ostrihome. Vysokoškolské štúdium absolvoval v Budapešti, kde získal doktorát z humanitných vied. Od roku 1898 žil opäť v Komárne a 21 rokov vykonával vedeckú prácu ako tajomník muzeálneho spolku a hlavný archivár župy. Publikoval množstvo historických a archeologických prác, čiastočne samostatne a čiastočne vo vedeckých časopisoch. Počas I. svetovej vojny organizoval benefičné akcie vo vtedajšom komárňanskom okrese.

Po vzniku Česko-Slovenska zasvätil svoj život literatúre a veľký úspech dosiahol početnými archeologickými a historickými prácami. Odvtedy pôsobil aj vo veci maďarskej menšiny ako publicista a stal sa jedným z významných predstaviteľov maďarskej komunity. Bol členom Krajinskej kresťansko-socialistickej strany. Spolu s Viktorom Palkovicsom, poslancom Národného zhromaždenia, vytvoril Katolícky veľký výbor, ktorý ho zvolil za svojho generálneho tajomníka. V krajinských voľbách v roku 1928 bol zvolený za člena Krajinského zastupiteľstva. Mandát obhájil aj po voľbách v roku 1935. Zomrel po ťažkej chorobe 20. januára 1936.[2] V Krajinskom zastupiteľstve Júliusa Alapyho nahradil Dionýz Gürtler.

Ako riaditeľ župného archívu a múzea vyťažil z ich zbierok mnoho cenného materiálu pre veľký počet vlastivedných podujatí týkajúcich sa histórie Komárna, jeho okolia i celého Žitného ostrova. Z týchto štúdii tiež vznikla kniha Rybárstvo Žitného ostrova. Tiež začal vydávať vedeckú revue „Nemzeti Kultúra“, v ktorej zhromaždil mnoho vlastivedných pracovníkov, ktorých niektoré príspevky mali vzťah aj k slovenským dejinám.[3]
