Poloha

Londýnske City (anglicky City of London) je malá časť Veľkého Londýna. Moderná konurbácia vznikla rozširovaním mesta z City a blízkeho Westminsteru, ktorý bol sídlom kráľovského dvora.

Dnes je City finančným centrom Londýna, aj keď z jeho vplyvu mu uberá Canary Wharf. Často sa označuje iba ako City, alebo Square Mile, čo vyjadruje približne jeho rozlohu (2,6 km²). V stredoveku bolo City synonymom pre Londýn, ale v súčasnosti sa označenie Londýn používa pre celé mesto obklopujúce City. City je súčasťou centra Londýna, ale s výnimkou finančného centra je väčšina funkcií správy hlavného mesta sústredená do West Endu. Počet obyvateľov trvalo žijúcich v City je asi 8 000, ale denne sem prichádza za prácou asi 300 000 ľudí.
