Hi! We recently had a discussion at Wikipedia:Simple talk/Archive 157#Category move. It's a lot of pages, and the only way I can see to make this change en masse is to use AWB - unless anyone knows of a bot or tool that can move category names on mass.
I'd like to request access to AWB to complete the task - I have experience with the tool, I've made a few thousand edits with it on the English language Wikipedia. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:26, 25 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Done, I've also given you the flood flag which expires in 3 hours. Please let me know if you need the flag to be extended. — *Fehufangą ♮ ✉ Talk page 23:47, 25 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
- Sorry, I hadn't planned to do the work immediately, I'm hoping to get some time to make some of the changes today. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:18, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello. I need access to AWB in order to mass add links to the names of dignity in the infoboxes of church hierarchs (e.g. "His Excellency" -> [[Bishop|His Excellency]]). There are dozens of such articles, so AWB will help me do it faster. Thank you. BZPN (talk) 18:22, 13 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
- Maybe @Auntof6 or @Fehufanga could help, you guys are active here :). BZPN (talk) 20:18, 13 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
- P.S. as I said on AN, access would also be useful for quickly removing shortdesc templates from articles. BZPN (talk) 21:36, 13 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
- @BZPN Can you give a complete list of honorifics that you will be adding links to? — *Fehufangą ♮ ✉ Talk page 22:30, 13 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
- Of course, there are only two of them:
- BZPN (talk) 22:33, 13 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
- I would also like to add that there will be over 150 such pages. BZPN (talk) 22:38, 13 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
- (forgot about the ping) BZPN (talk) 22:44, 13 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
- So, @Fehufanga, what do you think? BZPN (talk) 14:11, 14 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I want to work on creating stubs for Minnesota counties. I will have them look like previously made stubs like Waite Park, Minnesota. Thanks :) Ieditrandomarticles (talk | contribs) 14:26, 18 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
- @Ieditrandomarticles: Do you mean you want to create the pages using AWB? We don't approve it for creating pages. If that's not what you have in mind, please explain. -- Auntof6 (talk) 16:27, 18 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
- No that is what I had in mind. Thanks. Ieditrandomarticles (talk | contribs) 16:36, 18 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
- @Ieditrandomarticles Also, every Minnesota county already has an article, but do you mean creating pages for cities, unincorporated communities, or townships? 69.222.191.67 (talk) 17:54, 18 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
- I meant cities. Whoops :) Ieditrandomarticles (talk | contribs) 21:19, 18 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
I noticed a couple thousand potential typos, but need to be added to the checkpage to fix them. Polygnotus (talk) 09:17, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
- Polygnotus, we don't use AWB for fixing typos on this wiki. --Ferien (talk | join TBA!) 11:02, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
- @Polygnotus: One issue with this is that you might change something that shouldn't change, depending on how you do it. I looked at your list of typos, and here are some examples where that could happen:
- wikipedia, wikipeedia: the Yoruba Wikipedia is "Wikipéédíà Yorùbá"
- center, cente: a search shows places where "cente" is the correct spelling
- united,untied: "untied" is a valid word
- publisher, publishe: how would you know it isn't supposed to be "published"?
- american, merican: a search shows places where a person's surname is "Merican", and one other one where "Merican" seems correct
- players,payers: "payers" is a valid word
- source, soure: a search shows places where "soure" or "Soure" is correct
- format, forma: a search shows places where "forma" is correct
- I didn't go through the whole list, but I'm sure there are more examples. -- Auntof6 (talk) 22:19, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
- @Auntof6: That is not a list of typos, it is a list of potential typos. When the human confirms that it is actually a typo then it gets fixed. What you are thinking of is an automated typo bot, and that is indeed a bad idea. Polygnotus (talk) 00:44, 10 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
- Also, theoretically if you make 51% the correct choice and 49% the wrong one it would still be an improvement. And the actual ratio is more like 99.something% Polygnotus (talk) 08:12, 10 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
- The 51/49 thing is only one way to look at it. Here, 51% might not be acceptable. It might be better to have a typo than a wrong word because it could be harder to find an incorrect word than to find a typo. -- Auntof6 (talk) 09:44, 10 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi! I am actively working on Ukraine- and Russia-related topics on this wiki. I would like to request access to AutoWikiBrowser so I can quickly add newly created navigation templates to articles. Is this possible? If so, please let me know! Thanks! Duntsov (talk) 02:52, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
