Vyacheslav Polozov - Полозов Вячеслав Михайлович - was born in the Ukrainian industrial city of Mariupol, where his parents worked for the Railroad. On his fifth birthday Vyacheslav received a present from his mother, a Robertino Loretti recording. It was a really wonderful gift. Listening to the young voice of the Italian boy, the Ukrainian boy named Vyacheslav, decided to become a great singer. It was his secret dream.

Since that time Slava (short name for VyacheSlav) tried to sing Italian songs, pretending to be Robertino Loretti. He sang those songs everywhere, in pre-school concert for gifted children, during his regular school years, in vocal concerts of The Red Army Chorus while fulfilling his military duty, and as a student of the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music.

While a student at the Music Academy, Vyacheslav was invited by The National Academic State Opera for the role of Alfredo in Verdi’s “La Traviata”. It was his debut as an opera singer and it was successful. The dream came true.

Immediately after the successful Kiev debut, the Saratov State Opera invited Mr. Polozov for the title role of Wagner’s “Lohengrin”. Vyacheslav was awarded the title of “Most promising young opera singer” for the title role of “Lohengrin” and afterwards was assigned principal tenor of the National Academic Opera Theater of Belarus.

Mr. Polozov made his debut with the State Academic Bolshoi Opera Theater in Moscow, singing Alfredo in Verdi’s “La Traviata” and Turiddu in Mascani’s “Cavaleria Rusticana”. His phenomenal artistic abilities brought him immediate recognition as one of the leading singers of his country.

Vyacheslav Polozov was a winner of many vocal contests. His successes include the All Russian Glinka Competition, where he received the Gold Medal; The Sofia (Bulgaria) Competition for opera singers, where he was awarded the Silver Medal for the role of the Duke of Mantua in Verdi’s “Rigoletto” and the Fifth Worldwide Madame Butterfly Competition in Tokyo, Japan. Mr. Polozov won the Grand Prix and Gold Medal, the first tenor ever to win this prize.

Vyacheslav Polozov performed as a principal tenor with the major opera houses such as Moscow, Minsk, Novosibirsk, Sofia, Kiev, Milan, Chicago, New York, Rome, Santiago, San Francisco, Houston, Munich, Paris, Denver, Barcelona, Salzburg, Hamburg, Washington D.C., Miami, Los Angeles, Bern, Tokyo, etc., and with some of the greatest musicians and singers of our time.
