This is a list of the Indigenous Australian groups living in the southern Australian state of Victoria. The Australian Aboriginals arrived in Australia about 50,000 years ago and soon made their to the south of the continent. A camp site near Melbourne has been dated to over 31,000 years ago.[2] When European settlers arrived in Victoria in 1835, it is estimated that there were about 60,000 Indigenous Australians in the state, and that there over 30 languages spoken.[3] The spellings of the names is approximate.
