This is a list of tools that editors can use to make tasks easier. Please feel free to add something that you think might help me or others to work more efficiently.

• Readability test and improve gives readability scores and suggestions for how to improve them.
• Joe's Web Tools has a readability calculator.
• Readability-score.com gives a range of scores on reading ease.
• Juicy Studio describes three basic reading level algorithms.
• The classic how-to guidelines: How to write Simple English pages, Examples of simpler English and Translate English into Simple English

• Wiktionary:Basic English alphabetical wordlist, the 850 words of Basic English according to Ogden.
• Wiktionary:BNC spoken freq, 4000 of the most commonly used words in English according to the British National Corpus.
• Simple English Dictionary, a spellchecker add-on for Firefox.
• Our own Category:Basic English has lists of basic English words including the 850 words given by Ogden, and the combined list containing about 2,500 words.

• Recent changes linked shows the recent changes to all pages linked from a given page.

• Erwin's related changes shows recent changes related to a category and it's subcategories.

• gWatch lets you build a kind of global watchlist by watching a page in every project (such as your user page). You can also import a raw watchlist using your watchlist token.
• New pages shows the most recent pages created. Is automatically filtered by namespace, and can be further filtered by user or trigger.

• Short pages lists all short articles by size, starting from the smallest.

• Erwin's short pages finds pages less than 50 bytes in size in a specified namespace.

• All pages with prefix lists all pages with a specified prefix. It splits the list into three columns and longer lists are restricted to 120 items per page.
• Subpages lists all subpages of a given page in raw text.
• Yanker searches for pages by a particular pattern.

• CatScan searches categories, recursively and according to specified criteria, for intersection with other categories, templates, stubs, recent changes, etc. Instructions are available on meta at CatScan and User:Duesentrieb/CatScan. Hasn't been adapted to simple yet, but should be fairly easy.
• Categorycount counts the number of articles in a category.
• Catanalyzer shows a category tree and counts the articles in those categories.
• Talk page category intersect shows articles that are in one category with its talk page in another category.

• Wikimedia wikis lists all Wikimedia wikis as well as other projects.

• Erwin's tool lists all the projects from the Wikimedia Foundation, and can filter the list by number of sysops.

• Free Image Search Tool searches for free images which can be added to articles, or replace non-free images and placeholders.

• Help:Magic words, an outline of the standard magic words generated by MediaWiki, including switches, variables, and parser functions. See the manual for the technical background and Help:Extension:ParserFunctions for additional functions generated by extensions.
• Help:Images and Wikipedia:Extended image syntax, explanations of image syntax.
• TextMechanic's Count text is an online tool that counts the number of characters, words, sentences and lines in a set of text.

• Wikipedia:Accessibility, manual of style for maximising ease of navigation and readability. Some basic information:

• Dos and don'ts, the basics of accessibility;
• Wikipedia:Alternative text for images, to account for those using a screen reader or other assistive technologies;
• Wikipedia:Colours, to account for legibility and colourblindness;
• Data tables tutorial shows how to make sure wikitables are legibile by all;
• Template priorities, improvements to make to templates like navboxes to maximise usability.

• Wikimedia Accessibility Initiative contains tips and resources for maximising accessibility
• Fangs Screen Reader Emulator is an add-on for Firefox that renders a text version of a web page similar to how a screen reader would read it.
• Accessibility Evaluation Toolbar is another add-on for Firefox that tests the accessibility of a web page.
• Quick Tips to Make Accessible Web Sites, given by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI)

• WikiHiero is a specialised syntax for adding Egyptian hieroglyphs to articles. See the syntax outline for the full syntax, the help guide for how to use it, and try it out at Special:Hieroglyphs.

• AutoWikiBrowser is a semi-automated editor used for tedious repetitive tasks, such as typo fixing, mass disambiguation, and finding and replacing. See the user manual for more.
• Wikipedia Cleaner aids in various maintenance tasks, including fixing ambiguous links.
• Check Wikipedia automatically locates errors in wiki markup.
• CatScan performs a search and gives a list of pages by category, size, template used. Detailed here.
• CatScan v2.0 is another version of the above tool written by a different user, with more features.
• Category intersection lists all pages or images that are in a set of given categories.
• Text Mechanic is a collection of free online tools for editing and manipulating text.
• Duplication Detector compares any two web pages to identify text which has been copied from one to the other.

• Checklinks detects the status of external links within an article.
• Wayback machine archives web pages so you can fix dead links in an article using |archiveurl= and |archivedate=.
• Special:LinkSearch lists which articles link to a particular website.

• Pages linking to disambiguation pages lists all the articles that link to a disambiguation page.
• Dab solver disambiguates several links at once, looks for unlisted red links, and can pick the best redirect for a link.
• Dablinks checks for disambiguation links on individual Wikipedia articles or up to 500 articles from a category or list.
• Dabfix is an edit-assist tool to automatically build a disambiguation page with appropriate links.
• Solve disambiguation.py is a python bot script designed to help fix ambiguous links.
• Disambiguation pages with links lists all disambiguation pages that are linked to by articles.
• Disambiguation link count gives you the number of mainspace links to any disambiguation page.
• Articles with multiple dablinks lists all articles that have links to more than one disambiguation page. Check what those links are using its companion tool. A third tool lists all templates that link to disambiguation pages, which can help remove ambiguous links from many articles at once.

• Bugzilla is the issue tracker for MediaWiki software and site-specific problems on Wikimedia's wiki sites. A different login is required.
• JIRA is the issue tracker for Toolserver. A different login is required.

• Category:Citation templates has all the different citation templates and Wikipedia:Citation templates shows how to use them.
• Special:BookSources, locate a book by its ISBN.
• ProveIt is a downloadable tool to help find and add references for Wikipedia. More information is available here.

• Global user manager checks the global status of a user.
• Luxo's counter (cross-wiki contribs or global contributions) gives an overview of a user's latest contributions on all public wikis.
• SUL info shows the status of a user's SUL and their status on each wiki they are registered at.
• CrossActivity shows the date and time of a user's latest action on all wikis.
• xContribs (cross-contribs) measures cross-wikiness, i.e., how much of their contributions are spread across wikis.
• Edit summary calculator shows how often a user gives an summary for their edits. Fl's tool does the same, by namespace.
• FindMe! shows on which wikis a user has registered an account.
• Contribs shows the contributions of multiple users in a single list.
• Watcher shows how many users are watching a certain page. It won't show the exact number if the page has fewer than 30 watchers.
• Stalker compares the contributions of up to ten users. The search can be filtered by namespace.
• Stalk toy provides comprehensive information about the status of a user, IP address, or CIDR range on all Wikimedia wikis.

• Reverse DNS lookup determines the domain name that is associated with a given IP address. More DNS query tools are available at the Open Directory Project.
• WHOIS lookups from C-M and OverlordQ. More services can be found at the Open Directory Project.
• Traceroute records the path (or transfers through gateway computers on a network) packets take to get from one IP address to another. More links to traceroute servers can be found on the Open Directory Project.
• Geolocate determines a visitor's rough geographical location. More services can be found on the Open Directory Project.
• Range check lists the contributions made to a wiki by all IP addresses within a specified range.
• Rangeblock calculator determines the smallest possible rangeblock for a set of IP addresses.
• Tor check helps to determine whether an IP address is using TOR exit nodes to access Wikipedia. Access by TOR nodes is normally automatically blocked by the TorBlock extension.

• Gadgets for automated warnings:

• Vandal Warner, which I find more useful in welcoming users.
• Wikipedia:Twinkle, probably the most useful and widely used.
• Wikipedia:Huggle, which uses its own set of warning templates.

• Block finder finds the block responsible for blocking a given IP address. It checks both global and local blocks as well as range and normal blocks.

• Welcome templates and WikiLove templates, should always be substituted.
• Barnstar award templates, local templates for substituting. The barnstars category contains all the designs of barnstars available on Commons. More kinds of awards are in Wikimedia user awards.
