Greenhouse gas From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Greenhouse gases reflect radiation from the Earth and stop it from being lost into space. This causes the Earth's temperature to be higher than it would be without greenhouse gases. The name for this is the "greenhouse effect." Most greenhouse gases are natural - water vapor is the most common, and causes most of the greenhouse effect on Earth. Other greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and ozone. A natural greenhouse effect is not bad. Without greenhouse gases, the earth would be on average 33 degrees Celsius colder, and life would probably not be possible here. However, humans are adding too much more greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. Mainstream Science believes that this has caused the planet's average temperature to rise. The most important greenhouse gas that humans add to the atmosphere is carbon dioxide which there is less than 1% in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is released when people burn fossil fuels, like oil, coal, and natural gas.They also add carbon dioxide by breathing. Scientists are not sure how water vapor affects the temperature since they can form clouds to reflect heat or insulate the Earth. In addition to burning fossil fuels, human beings add carbon dioxide to the atmosphere by cutting down trees. They also add methane to the atmosphere by raising cattle and other farm animals, such as geese, turkeys, pigs, chickens, and sheep. This makes global warming. Although Global Warming is a world wide danger, there are some proof and evidence that Global warming would be occurring with or without humans creating Greenhouse emissions. This is because there are natural causes that us humans have no control over. These include: the sun spots are exploding therefore raising the heat, large eruptions in the major volcanoes on the earth which increases gases and this is damaging plants, the orbit the Earth takes has changed - movement to or from the sun, the Earth is different when compared to how it sits near the sun -changes the temperature up or down, meteors caused explosions as they made contact with the Earth. Earth's absorption of solar radiation and heat energy that is emitted by the sun. This in turn will make temperature rise and get higher on the top surfaces of the earth.

Acid rain is rain or any other form of precipitation that is unusually acidic, i.e. elevated levels of hydrogen ions (low pH). It can have harmful effects on plants, aquatic animals, and infrastructure through the process of wet deposition. Acid rain is caused by emissions of compounds of ammonium, carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur which react with the water molecules in the atmosphere to produce acids. Governments have made efforts since the 1970s to reduce the production of sulfuric oxide into the Earth's atmosphere with positive results. However, it can also be caused naturally by the splitting of nitrogen compounds by the energy produced by lightning strikes, or the release of sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere by volcano eruptions.
People started making acid rain when they started building many factories and power stations which burned coal or oil.[1] When these fuels are burned, they produce harmful gases.
Britain produces about five million tonnes of these gases every year.[1] China produces eighteen million tonnes.[1] The United States of America produces more than twenty million tonnes.[1] The wind carries the gases high into the sky. There, they come together with water in the sky. This makes acid rain, acid fog, and acid snow.
