US Army

Kenneth Kucker served in the US army from 23, January 1968- 10, November 1970! Basic training in Fort Polk, also called ‘ Little Vietnam,’ because of the Vietnam war @ the time! Later, after Basic training, continued @ Forth Polk in AIT, Advanced Individual Training in truck driving! He finished AIT with ‘adequate scores‘, and was ‘shipped to Germany’ to serve as a truck driver in USAEUR, headquarters company in Heidelberg, Germany. After drinking too much on one occasion, out with the ‘boys,’ he was found to be too sick to stay in army barracks and was shown into the OD, officer of the Day, and was ‘reprimanded‘, and shipped out of ‘Headquarters unit’ and told to ‘Clear Post! While he was ‘Clearing post he came upon a US Army band and he decided to ‘try out for it! He was accepted into the US army band and was ‘put,’ into it for ‘rides’ all over Europe, and ‘tours, in NATO ceremonies that included US Army band! About this time, the war was getting really popular in Vietnam and he was ‘wondering’ what it was all really about, so he put in for a transfer to the war! Naturally he was sent over there in! His total Vietnam war time was 6, December 1969- 10 November 1070! He also received the following medals upon release: Decorations = NDSM = National Defense Service Medal, VCM = Vietnam Campaign Medal, VSM = Vietnam Campaign Medal, SPS, ( M-14 )! Later life After US Army After release from US Army he started drinking, as he was ‘taught,’ in the US Army and he started getting into lots of minor troubles from it. ‘Trouble’ continued till he tried his first ‘taste,’ of drugs, Marijuana! This drug started him on a path of ‘downward spirals’ into Speed and stronger drugs, before he finally got into major problems with a felony arrest for automobile theft, to support his drug habits! He also had a stroke in 1969 and recovered from it, with the drugs he choose for himself! This stroke gave him some ‘advantages’ once he was sent into Tx Prison on a charge of UUMV, Unauthorized use of a Motor vehicle! He was sentenced to 3, three year sentences to serve concurrent, and he did his time by reading all night in the New Testament of the Bible, while he slept most days! Because of his ‘Faith,’ and his reading of the New Testament, he wound up getting approved for first parole and was released in 1970 a free man to get a job! This also started his Prison ministries in Tx! He knew his cousin worked in automotive body shops and sought work with one of them! Jerry Stevens, his cousin, taught him how to do the work and started him on a road to honest work, making loads of money, which was nothing but temptations to make more money! All along this time, he was living in Irving, Tx, a small suburb of D/FW, Tx. He had gotten married and had one child, called , Kandy, after a drug pusher, by the same name, Candy with a hat! His wife, Mary, wanted Candy’s name to be spelled with a “K,’ and it was done that day, of Kandy’s Birth! Later in life After serving his Tx prison time, he relocated to Denton, Texas, because his cousin, Tommy, had a shop there, where he could work! Once there, he started going to Baptists churches regularly, before moving to Irving, Tx to continue working with Jerry! Jerry was always wanting to get into drugs, but he could Not because he looked too ‘country,’ and could Not get anybody to sell anything ( drugs ) to him! Kenneth got, Jerry started using drugs and he got into his prison ministries more during this time! He was ‘regularly a member of Grace Temple Church and he attendance regularly and was ‘looked upon,’ for his New Testament knowledge around the church, and he continued his prison ministries there, till he moved to Waco, TX! Waco, TX Kenneth got a free ride there because Baylor University was having some big thing there, concerning Baptists and he was ‘dropped off’ without anything, homeless and broke, he found CUB, church Under the Bridge on Sunday, after getting kicked out of a local church and was ‘walking around! He attended the ‘Church, almost from the beginning and meet Jimmy Dorrell, the pastor, preacher and for some unknown reason Jimmy took a liking to him, and as they talked, jimmy saw his yearning to minister to Tx prisoners, and encouged him! Kenneth Later, with his VA Pension, that he got started from the VA hospital here, bought a vehicle and found many ‘inmates of the county jail there and joined one group of ministers to go into McLennan County jail! He had ‘officially started’ his legal ‘prison ministries! It was a simply process of writing inmates who were then, later send to Gatesville, Tx, and ‘finding more through them to write, all through 1995 or so when it all started, once the ‘Net,’ started, Tx Prisons put up their WebPages and it was simple to located and write prisoners through it!
