Tyson Jost (born March 14, 1998) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward. He currently plays for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also played for the Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild, Buffalo Sabres, and Carolina Hurricanes.

Career

Before playing in the NHL, Jost played parts of three seasons with the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) and four years with the North Dakota Fighting Hawks of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). he had a successful time with his teams. With the Vees, he was named the CJHL Most Valuable Player, CJHL Top forward, won the Vern Dye Memorial Trophy for most valuable player and was named to the BCHL All-Rookie Team.[1][2][3] With the Fighting Hawks, he was named to both the NCHC All-Rookie Team and NCHC All-Tournament Team.[4]

He was drafted 10th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2016 NHL entry draft.[5] On March 29, 2017, Jost signed a three-year, $5.1 million entry-level contract to join the Avalanche.[6]

On March 31, 2017, Jost made his NHL debut in a 2–1 shootout win against the St. Louis Blues.[7] On April 6, Jost scored his first NHL goal against Devan Dubnyk in a 4–3 loss against the Minnesota Wild.[8] On October 19, 2020, Jost signed a two-year, $775,000 contract to stay with the Avalanche.[9]

On March 15, 2022, the Avalanche traded Jost to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Nico Sturm.[10] He played 33 regular season games over two seasons for the Wild.

On November 18, 2022, the Wild placed Jost onto waivers and his contract was picked up by the Buffalo Sabres.[11] On July 1, 2023, Jost signed a two-year, $2 million contract to stay with the Sabres.[12] He played parts of two seasons with the Sabres.

On July 1, 2024, Jost signed a one-year, $775,000 contract to join the Carolina Hurricanes.[13] On July 2, 2025, Jost signed a one-year contract to stay with the Hurricanes.[14] He scored 4 goals and recorded 5 assists for 9 points in 39 regular season games with the team.

On September 30, 2025, the Hurricanes decided to waiver Jost and his contract was picked up by the Nashville Predators the next day.[15]
