Trump University, also called the Trump Wealth Institute and Trump Entrepreneur Initiative LLC, was an American education company started by Donald Trump, Michael Sexton, and Jonathan Spitalny. It offered courses about real estate, money management, business, and wealth building.[2] Its real estate program operated from 2005 to 2010. The company was owned and operated by The Trump Organization. It stopped operating in 2011 after investigations, lawsuits, and complaints from former students.[3]
Although it used the word "university", Trump University was not an accredited university or college. It did not give college credits, degrees, or grades to students.[4] The company held seminars and sold more expensive training programs to customers.[5]
Trump University became the subject of several lawsuits. The lawsuits said the company used misleading marketing and strong sales methods. Trump denied wrongdoing. In November 2016, after he was elected president, Trump agreed to settle three lawsuits for $25 million.[6]
