Troy was platted in 1855.[5] It was named after the ancient city of Troy.[6] The first house in Troy was built in 1856, and the first store opened in 1857. Troy was incorporated as a city in 1860.[7] The first post office in Troy was created in March 1857.[8]
The 2020 census says that there were 964 people, 412 households, and 246 families living in Troy. Of the households, 66.7% owned their home and 33.3% rented their home.
The median age was 40.4 years. Of the people, 94.2% were White, 0.6% were Black, 0.3% were Asian, 0.2% were Native American, 0.6% were from some other race, and 4.0% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.4% of the people.[3][10]
2010 census
The 2010 census says that there were 1,010 people, 421 households, and 275 families living in Troy.[11]
