Thebaol (also called α-thebaol and 3,6-dimethoxy-4-phenanthrenol[1][2]) is a tricyclic chemical compound. It is in opium latex and the opium poppy[3][4][5] and can also be found in heroin and other street opioids, as well as on the things people use to take the drugs.[5] It makes up a small part of opium latex and drugs. It is thought to be made when thebaine (another chemical in opium) degrades.[3][5]
