Thatcher Douglas Demko (born December 8, 1995) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender. He currently plays for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Demko is a two-time NHL All-Star, being named one in 2022 and 2024.

Career

Before playing in the NHL, Demko played one season with the Omaha Lancers, one season with the US National Development Team of the United States Hockey League (USHL), and three years with Boston College Eagles of Hockey East. He had a successful time with his teams. With the Eagles, he finished the 2015-16 season with a 1.88 goals against average and a .935 save percentage. For his effort, he was awarded the Mike Richter Award for being the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA men's ice hockey.[1]

He was drafted 36th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2014 NHL entry draft. On April 20, 2016, Demko signed a three-year, $925,000 entry-level contract to join the Canucks.[2] They sent him down to play for their AHL-affiliate Utica Comets.

On March 31, 2018, the Canucks called him up and Demko made his NHL debut, stopping 26 of 30 shots in a 5–4 overtime win against the Columbus Blue Jackets.[3] On April 24, 2019, Demko signed a two-year, $1.05 million contract to stay with the Canucks.[4] On April 8, 2021, Demko signed a five-year, $25 million contract to stay with the Canucks.[5] On January 13, 2022, Demko was selected to play in his first NHL All-Star game.[6] On January 13, 2024, Demko was selected to play in his second NHL All-Star game.[7] On July 1, 2025, Demko signed a three-year, $8.5 million contract to stay with the Canucks.[8]
