Telmatobius degener is a frog. It lives in Peru.[2][3][1]

Home

Scientists saw this frog next to roads with many plants growing nearby, in a field full of water, and in a marsh.[1] Scientists saw the frog in exactly one place: the Cordillera Occidental. They saw it 3290 meters above sea level.[2]

People

People catch other frogs in Telmatobius to eat. Scientists think people might eat T. degener too.[1]

Young

Scientists think this frog has young all year because they found young tadpoles and older tadpoles in the same place at the same time.[1]

Danger

Scientists from the IUCN say they do not know if this frog is in danger of dying out and scientists from Peru say it is in some danger. There are mines and farms near where the frog lives, so bad chemicals in the water could hurt the frog. Scientists believe the fungal disease chytridiomycosis might kill this frog. They did find the fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis on other frogs in Telmatobius.[1]
