Tanoli or Tanawali are a Hindko-speaking ethnic group living in the Hazara area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.[1] The Tanolis claim descent from Barlas Turks, who were settled in this region by Timur after he conquered Hazara.[2] Also some Tanolis are ethnically Pashtun and speak Pashto, while all Tanolis are ethnically Pashtun due to intermarriage they were hindkowanized. Some also didn’t intermarry but moved to hindko speaking places like abbottabad and adapted to hindko culture.
