I think the page Father Christmas should be merged with this page, it is about the same person but by a different name, it's nothing more than redundant (repeat
A fact from Santa Claus appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know? column on 24 December 2008.

Merge proposal

Different cultures? They're the same person though, if not a permanent merge it should be long enough for them to grow long enough to have own articles. Different cultures don't make them different people.-- Chris†ianMan16tcr22:10, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Agree with Julian. Santa Claus is the saint, Father Christmas is the guy who brings people presents. That they are used interchangably is irrelevant. They are different concepts. Majorlytalk22:11, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Also, the term "Santa Claus" is used primarily in the United States, whereas "Father Christmas" is used in Europe. Thus, if we merged the two, we would have a U.S. bias. Juliancolton (talk) 22:16, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
No, that's listing them all under one name, I'm not saying use the "U.S." name alone, mention the others like the enWP article does, but there is no reason why they should be on separate pages.-- Chris†ianMan16tcr22:39, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Not merged - Santa and Father are the same persons, but they have different meanings. I agree with Majorly's comment. At all, this are two different people of differnt cultures. Barras || talk14:41, 1 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Not very fair

I personally don't think it is wise to put that santa claus is a fictional character.
what if a child was told to look him up for homework or something and saw that?!
I don't think they would be happy.
you could just put it in another way instead of that because if my little brother saw that he would cry for days on end.
Unfortunately, we do say to people that Wikipedia is not censored. We don't change Wikipedia to protect people from things they may not like to see or which would upset them. It's an encyclopedia and we have to put the truth in it, "warts and all". I would also say that if a young child was asked to look on Wikipedia for stuff like that, as homework, that their parents would be sensible enough to help them. I think this article should be re written, at least partially, like the en.Wikipedia.org version, which states him as a legendary character, stated to be real. It’s useful for grown ups trying to learn the history of Santa, and children trying to believe he is real, while not promising or confirming if he is real or fake, without contradicting each other. They really did an extraordinary job at writing that article. Lallint (talk) 10:58, 6 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
There is nothing wrong with adding another image of Santa, but the image you are trying to add is not acceptable due to the restrictions on it. As it is hosted on commons with no license and according to the source page of the image, the image/contents where the image came from are Copyright Righted, meaning the publisher does not allow there images to be used for commercial purposes. For images to be used they have to be under a free license such as CC-BY-SA, or related license. That is why the image keeps getting removed please read <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copyrights> for further information. --Clarkcj12 (talk) 03:24, 27 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
