--Moved Taiwan content to new page on Taiwan. All of these are still stubs.
I moved the history part from the People's Republic of China page and tried to make it more Simple English. I think we still need to fix parts of this. How can we say "unconditional surrender"?
Separate articles on History of China to cover everything up to Mao's death and the new regime, and Culture of China would be ideal. Statistics, demographics, industries, energy sources, and all the geography, are much more important than history in this article. We should use it as a template for articles on other major civilizations. In other words, get it right first, and then use it to do the same for India, History of India and Pakistan (inseparable really), Culture of India (Pakistan and Bangaladesh can be covered in Islamic culture). The Chinese situation is simpler, so let's try to get it right first.
It's fair to say that People's Republic of China and Republic of China are two different states with their own articles, but, they are not two different cultures historically, and they do not have two different histories. The few issues unique to each can be discussed in the articles on each, but, don't confuse a state with a culture. People on both sides of the Taiwan Strait believe in a "one China policy". Although maybe less all the time.
Likewise, Korea is one culture with two states. Almost everyone thinks they will eventually re-unify.
Taiwan is not a separate country from China. I know that Taiwan has its own democratic laws and everything but that all part of China's "One Country Two Policies" scheme. The UN refused to address Taiwan as a country. Can someone improve the article a bit so it is not that misleading? Thanks.Noelle 18:18, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
I don't see why you cropped the page on the Chinese history. It provides a better view. Please put it back
China is located in Asia. It has the world's biggest poppulation, 1.2 billion people. So out of evey random six people, one would be chinese. China has a extremly long histroy, going back about 5 000 years. There was many emperors back then but it was eventually over throwen by other people. China is now called "The People's Republic of China". The present president of China is Hou Zing Tao.
You can change 'unconditional surrender' to 'surrender completely'. But I think the section on martial arts especially is too complex for Simple English in terms of both vocabulary AND grammar. You need to write in simple, short sentences with only one idea per sentence. As it is, the language in this article is too complex for many non-native speakers and would be more suitable for the main Wikipedia.Cathachap 16:44, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
For the third person,I don't think that Korea will unify. The best it can turn is probably what it is now — Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.132.131.170 (talk • contribs)
After 1978,China gradually transformed into a social-imperialism country, the reason and effect of this transformation is significant. I suggest adding a revisionism paragraph to discuss this A Random Maoist (talk) 16:08, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
Result: Consensus for option 1: Merge PRC into China, merge ROC into Taiwan. Lights and freedom (talk) 21:59, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
The question of whether to merge these articles has been open for a long time. So I think it is best to have a formal discussion about it.

It may take some discussion to decide how to merge People's Republic of China and China. How much focus on each topic do we want in the resulting article? Some could probably go into Greater China. (However, I already merged Republic of China into Taiwan. Lights and freedom (talk) 22:56, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
Hi there, can I merge People's Republic of China into this page? thetree284 (talk) 00:05, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
Good suggestion, however, I would do the "other way round" instead. To improve readability, I think the following should be moved to People's_Republic_of_China#Military. I would refrain myself from changing the content or cleanup, by the way. Yilangderen (talk) 03:15, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
"With 2.3 million active troops, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) is the largest standing military force in the world. The PLA is commanded by the Central Military Commission (CMC).[7] China has the second-biggest military reserve force, only behind North Korea. The PLA consists of the Ground Force (PLAGF), the Navy (PLAN), the Air Force (PLAAF), and the People's Liberation Army Rocket Force (PLARF). According to the Chinese government, China's military budget for 2017 was US$151,5 billion. China has the world's second-largest military budget."
There should be a "Language" section and "dialect" sub-section. how did classical chinese transform to modern chinese, how many people speak Mandarin as the first language, the literacy rate, so on and so forth. Yilangderen (talk) 07:21, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
The China population page exist now. So, is it appropriate to add a " { { see also } } "? I tried 5 days ago, but my edit was reverted based on the reason of "No such article exists".
The relevance is that, "China" is a wide topic whereas "China population" is more specific on the demographics data / the statistics/ the methodology/ the assessment of the reliability of numbers. ~~~~ Yilangderen (talk) 09:27, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
I problem that I have spotted is that the "Demographics" section in this page is too short (simply jumps into a specific number/ conclusion). Yilangderen (talk) 09:29, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
I would like for People's Republic of China to be merged into China. First of all, it has been proposed two times as seen in the talk page, but none actually merged the two I mentioned. Second of all, on the English Wikipedia, information on the People's Republic of China is on the same page as en:China. Third of all, everything in both pages can be explained in one page. Fourth of all, less people are gonna look for the specific article "People's Republic of China" than "China" for the group of people wanting to see the same topic. Therefore, i think that PRoC and China should be in one page, titled China. Any thoughts? Thecommunitiesguy (talk) 03:25, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
