Sylvia Maria Kristel (28 September 1952 – 18 October 2012) was a Dutcherotic actress who acted in many movies. She was most notable for her role in the Emmanuelle movies from the 1970s through to the early 1990s.
The most successful film in her career was Private Lessons (1981). She played the housekeeper who initiates a 15-year-old to the wonders of sex. The film grossed over $50,000,000 worldwide.[1]
In September 2006, Kristel's autobiography Nue (Nude) was published in France. It was translated into English as Undressing Emmanuelle: a memoir, by Fourth Estate, 2007. ISBN978-0007256952. She told of her turbulent personal life blighted by addictions to drugs and alcohol. Her quest for a father figure led to some destructive relationships with older men. The book received some positive reviews.[4]
