Suwa Prefecture (諏方国 , Suwa-no kuni ) is an old province in the area of Nagano Prefecture on the island of Honshū .[ 1] The history of the province started in 721 and ended in 731.
History
Suwa Province was created during the reign of Empress Genshō .[ 2]
According to Shoku Nihongi , Suwa only lasted for ten years after it was established in 721.
