Dr. Steve Webb (born May 5, 1969) is an Americaneducator, author, and safety consultant. He is the founder of Safe Secure Systems and a retired law enforcement officer, recognized for his contributions to organizational safety and security.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
Steve Webb was born in Marion, Illinois.[4][5][6] He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from McKendree University in 1992 and later pursued advanced degrees at Southern Illinois University, including a Master of Science in 1996 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration in 2006.[7][8]
Career
Webb has served as a district superintendent at Goreville Community Unit School District #1 since 2002, where he developed and implemented various safety protocols. He also worked as district superintendent at Thompsonville Schools in Thompsonville, Illinois, from 1999–2002 and as Principal/Teacher/Coach at Joppa High School in Joppa, Illinois, from 1992–1999. Additionally, Webb was a law enforcement officer from 2010–2024, integrating law enforcement strategies into educational settings.[9]
Webb is a certified Threat Assessment Specialist and an A.V.E.R.T./A.L.I.C.E. Active Shooter Response Training Instructor. He used his research on mass shootings to develop the SAFE Training Program (Sense-Analyze-Future-Evade). He is also the creator and host of the “School Safety 101 Podcast.”[10][11]
He has authored several works, including the best-selling book Education in a Violent World: A Practical Guide to Keeping Our Kids Safe, which provides practical strategies for improving school safety. Webb frequently speaks at national and international conferences on topics related to safety and the "Learner Mindset."[12]
