Stefan Regmunt (born 20 June 1951)[1] is a Polish bishop of the Roman Catholic Church. He was the Bishop of Zielona Góra-Gorzów from 2007 to 2015.
Early life
Regmunt was born in Krasnystaw, Poland. He was ordained as a priest on 29 May 1973 by Henryk Gulbinowicz.[1][2]
Ecclesiastical career
He was consecrated as a bishop on 6 January 1995 by Pope John Paul II. He became the Bishop of Zielona Góra-Gorzów from 2007 to 2015.[1][2]
Controversies
In 2021, the Vatican said Stefan Regmunt did not do enough to stop sexual abuse of children by two priests in his diocese. Because of this, he was not allowed to take part in public Church events in his diocese. He also could not join meetings of the Polish Bishops' Conference.[3][4]
