The SkyTrain is the rapid transit (RT) railway system in Metro Vancouver , British Columbia , Canada . It is run by Translink . The trains run on weekdays from 4:48 a.m. until around 1:30 a.m. On weekends, they run on shorter hours during for the Expo and Millennium lines.[ 1]
Construction for the first line of the SkyTrain started on March 1, 1982.[ 2] It was first opened on December 11, 1985.[ 3]
There are three lines: the Expo , Millennium , and Canada .[ 4] [ 5] [ 6] Along with the lines, there are 53 stations and 6 under construction.[ 7] [ 8]
The SkyTrain was at one point the longest fully automated driverless system in the world. It is also the longest rapid transit system in Canada.[ 9] There is an average of 446,400 passenger trips each weekday (as of 2023).[ 10]
