Sharda Sinha (1 October 1952 – 5 November 2024) was an Indian folk singer. She sang in Bhojpuri, Maithili, and Magahi languages. She was known for traditional songs, especially Chhath songs.
She also sang songs in Hindi films. Her song "Kahe Toh Se Sajna" from the film Maine Pyar Kiya became popular.
She received the Padma Shri in 1991 and the Padma Bhushan in 2018 from the Government of India.[1][2]
She died on 5 November 2024 in New Delhi.[3]
Early life
Sinha was born in Bihar, India. She studied at Magadh Mahila College.
Career
She became popular in the 1980s for singing folk songs. Her songs were widely heard in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
