Shapi Magomedovitch Kaziev (Russian: Шапи́ Магомедович Кази́ев; March 27, 1956 – March 20, 2020) was a Russian historian, playwright and script writer. He was the author of historical novels and other books.[1] He wrote the screenplay for Rasul Gamzatov ("My Way"). He was awarded the 2003 special prize of the "Eurasian Kaleidoscope" Documentary Film Competition.

His first published play was the Answering machine, Modern Drama, No. 3, 1986. In 1987 his play on Imam Shamil (Captive) was published. He was a member of the USSR Union of Writers from 1989 until his death. His best known book was Imam Shamil in series "The Lives of Remarkable People" ("Molodaya gvardiya" Press, Moscow).

Kaziev died on March 20, 2020 in Makhachkala, Russia at the age of 63.[2]
