Ryan James Wedding (born September 14, 1981) is a Canadian alleged drug lord and former Olympic snowboarder.
Wedding competed for Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. He participated in the men's parallel giant slalom event and finished in 24th place. He decided to retire from snowboarding after the Olympics.[1]
After retiring, Wedding started to find himself in legal trouble. In 2006, his Vancouver property Eighteen Carrot Farms was raided by Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and they seized $10 million worth of cannabis, a shotgun, and some ammunition.[2] In 2008, Wedding was arrested for trying to buy cocaine from a United States government agent and he was convicted in 2010, sentenced to four years in prison.[3] During his time in prison, Wedding started to make connection with other criminals and made plans to expand his drug empire.[4]
On October 17, 2024, the United States Department of Justice announced that they were charging Wedding with multiple offenses including leading a criminal organization, drug trafficking, three counts of murder, and one attempt to commit murder.[5] Authorities claim that when Wedding was released from prison, he went to Mexico and joined the Sinaloa Cartel, which is the largest drug cartels in Mexico. He rose the ranks and became one of the highest-ranking members of the cartel.[6] On March 6, 2025, Wedding was added to the FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.[7]
On January 22, 2026, Wedding turned himself into authorities and he was arrested in Mexico.[8]
