Rufus Lige Edmisten (born July 12, 1941) is an American attorney and politician. He was the 46th Attorney General of North Carolina from 1974 until 1984. He was the 21st Secretary of State of North Carolina from 1989 to 1996.[1]

Edmisten was the Democratic nominee for Governor of North Carolina in the 1984 election, losing to Republican James G. Martin.
