Richard Yates Jr. (December 12, 1860 – April 11, 1936) was an American politician. He was the 22nd Governor of Illinois from 1901 to 1905. From 1919 to 1933, he was in the U.S. House of Representatives from Illinois. He was the first Illinois-born politician to become Illinois governor.[1] His father, Richard Yates Sr., was also governor.
