A red brick university (or redbrick university) was one of the nine civic universities founded in the major industrialcities of England. They are founded in the 19th century.[1][2] These universities were different from other universities as they accepted students regardless of religion or background. They concentrated on imparting to their students "real-world" skills such as engineering and medicine.[3]
