Philip James Woolas (11 December 1959 – 14 March 2026) was a British politician, lobbyist, television producer and consultant. He was the Minister of State for Borders and Immigration from 2008 to 2010. He was a member of the Labour Party. Woolas was Member of Parliament (MP) for Oldham East and Saddleworth from 1997 to 2010.[1]
Before being elected at the 1997 general election, Woolas was president of the National Union of Students (NUS), a producer for BBC programme Newsnight and an official at the GMB trade union.
Woolas died from brain cancer on 14 March 2026 at the age of 66.[1]
