Charles William "Pete" Conacher, Jr. (July 29, 1932 – October 20, 2024) was a Canadian ice hockey left winger. He played a career total of 229 regular season games in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Black Hawks, and New York Rangers. His father was NHL Hall of Famer, Charlie Conacher.
Career
Before playing in the NHL, Conacher played 3 seasons with the Galt Black Hawks of the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA). He then played for the Chicago Black Hawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He played 2 games with them before being sent down to their AHL-affiliate team, the St. Louis Flyers. He played 29 games with them before he was called back up to play for the Black Hawks. He would play parts of 3 seasons with the Black Hawks.
On November 23, 1954, the Black Hawks traded Conacher along with Bill Gadsby to the New York Rangers in exchange for Rich Lamoureux, Allan Stanley and Nick Mickoski.[1] On June 4, 1957, the Rangers traded him to the Toronto Maple Leafs for $15,000.[1] On November 18, 1957, the Maple Leafs traded Conacher back to the Rangers for $15,000.[1]
In the 1958-59 season, he played for the Belleville McFarlands of the Ontario Hockey Association Senior A League when they won the Allan Cup. After playing 6 seasons with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), Conacher retired from playing professional ice hockey in 1966.
Death
Conacher died on October 20, 2024, at the age of 92.[2]
