The petabyte (symbol: PB) is a unit of measurement in computers and similar electronic devices. One petabyte holds 1000 terabytes or 1 000 000 000 000 000 bytes.
Large organizations use petabytes of storage to hold massive amounts of data. For personal use, the petabyte is extremely rare; most modern PC's and personal programs use terabytes (primarily for very large backups), gigabytes, megabytes and occasionally kilobytes.
One thousand petabytes make one exabyte.
There are also currently petabyte supercomputers such as Frontier and Summit.
