Oakengates is a market town and civil parish in the borough of Telford and Wrekin in Shropshire, England. In 2021, there was 9,015 people who lived there. It is today part of Telford.

It is a historic town, with the civil parish dating back to 1135. By 1968, the modern-day Telford New Town, named after Thomas Telford, a civil engineer and architect, was made up of nearby market towns in the area, including Oakengates, Dawley and Wellington.

In 48 A.D, Watling Street, an important road in Oakengates for transportation and travel, was built by the Romans.

The Telford Theatre, an events venue, is located in Limes Walk in Oakengates.

Oakengates railway station is on the Wolverhampton–Shrewsbury line.
