Norm Provan

Norman Douglas Somerville Provan[1] (18 December 1932 – 13 October 2021) was an Australian rugby league player and coach. He was also known as "Sticks". He was a second-row forward with St George during the first ten of their eleven premierships in a row, from 1956 to 1966. He also played for the Australian national team from 1954 to 1960. With his country, he earnt 14 Tests and won two Rugby League World Cups. In 2018, he was named a rugby league "Immortal". He is also featured on the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership trophy, along with Arthur Summons.

Provan was born in Urana, New South Wales. His brother, Peter, won two premierships with St George and another with Balmain.

Provan died on 13 October 2021 on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. He was 88.[2]
