the Navadurgas, lit, the nine Durgas, are a group of nine hindu mother goddesses worshipped during Navratri. The Navadurgas are generally considered to be the nine incarnations of the Hindu goddess Durga, the supreme goddess in hindu traditions. The nine from of goddess Durga represent the nine stages of a woman's life.
Navadurgas;
- Shailputri- Shailputri is worshipped during the the 1st day of Navratri. She is generally portrayed as a peaceful deity riding a Bull named Nandi. She carries a Trishula and Lotus.
- Bramhacharini- the goddess worshipped during the second day of Navratri. She is generally portrayed as a celibate goddess carrying a Kamandal and Rosary. ----
- Chandraghanta - the Goddess worshipped on the 3rd day. She is generally portrayed as a ten- armed goddess, successor of the goddess Bramhacharini. ----
- Kushmanda- the fourth form of goddess Durga worshipped on the 4th day of Navratri. She is shown as a powerful goddess carrying a golden pot. ----
- Skandmata- mother of lord Skanda. Goddess worshipped on the 5th day. She is generally portrayed as a four- armed goddess carrying Lotus. ----
- Katyayani - The Goddess worshipped on the sixth day of Navratri. She is considered to be the slayer of evil demons. Daughter of the great sage Katyayana. ----
- Kalaratri- The Goddess worshipped on the 7th day of Navratri. She is generally portrayed as a powerful and fierce goddess. Goddess Kali and kalaratri are similar yet different forms of the same mother goddess.----
