NHL 26 is an ice hockey video game. It was published by EA Sports and was developed by EA Vancouver.[1] It is the 35th game in the NHL series.
It was released worldwide on September 12, 2025. It was released for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.[2]
The game introduced the ICE-Q 2.0 technology with NHL EDGE tracking data and a improved Be a Pro mode for the first time since NHL 21. The system was brought in to track stats and playing styles in an attempt to match real-life players and their styles. The new Be a Pro mode features players starting in the IIHF World Junior Championship and then either choosing to play in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) for the Memorial Cup or Champions Hockey League. Voice acting was also introduced and players can be sent down to the American Hockey League (AHL).[3]
On August 4, 2025, it was announced that Matthew Tkachuk was chosen as the cover athlete for the NHL 26.[4] Matthew, along with his brother Brady and father Keith, were cover athletes for the NHL 26 Deluxe Edition.[5]
The game received mixed and average reviews by game critics. Critics said that they liked the improvements to the gameplay and the ability to use Hockey Ultimate Team players offline. However, critics also felt that the game did not do much in terms of being different from other games in the series. They also felt that the arenas looked nice but the players and crowd were starting to look dated.[6]
