Meissa, also known as Lambda Orionis, is a star located in the constellation of Orion. It is a multiple star system located about 1,300 light years away from Earth. The star system has an total apparent magnitude of 3.33.[1]

The main stars in this system are a giant star of spectral type O9 and a B-class main sequence star. The stars are separated by 4 arcseconds (4"). Even though Meissa is more luminous than Rigel and only being a little further away, it appears 3 magnitudes dimmer at visual wavelengths. Much of the radiation emitted by the star is in the ultraviolet because of its high temperature.
