Maureen Brigid Dowd (born January 14, 1952) is an American columnist for The New York Times. She is also a best-selling author. She worked for Time magazine in the 1970s and 1980s. She worked for the Washington Star. She first joined The New York Times in 1983.^[1][2]

In 1999, Dowd received a Pulitzer Prize.^[3] It was for her series of columns on the Monica Lewinsky scandal in the Clinton administration.^[3]

She was born in Washington, D.C..
